To celebrate the 65th anniversary of Disney’s Peter Pan, Disney Animation hosted a Peter Pan Disneybound Parade down Main Street last weekend and it was a dream come true. Forget the fact that Peter Pan is one of my all-time favorite stories and will forever hold a special place in my heart (a blog post for another day). Set aside even that being in a Disney Parks parade has always been a childhood dream of mine. The most amazing part of this moment was getting to celebrate the incredible accomplishments of one of my best friends, Leslie Kay.
Did I really just march down Main Street in a Peter Pan Disneybound parade?!
Leslie began the Disneybound blog as a place to create Disney-inspired outfits for an upcoming trip. But with her fashion and social media background, she has turned Disneybound into a style phenomenon. It is not just a blog, but a community. I personally owe this community so much. I’ve made life-long friendships, experienced incredible opportunities, and even found the inspiration to start my own blog. When Disney invited Leslie and several Disneybounders to march down Main Street in a Disney Parks parade, it was an incredible moment for us all. In honor of Peter Pan’s 65th anniversary, Disney put on a parade celebrating Disneybound! We danced along with the floats and characters in our Peter Pan character disneybounds. I pinched myself multiple times as I lived a dream come true. And I will cherish this moment forever.
