Celebrating Disney Moms With Disneybounding

Posted in Disneybound, and Holidays

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that disneybounding is one of my favorite hobbies. For those who are unfamiliar, a disneybound is a fashionable way to style your outfit that pays tribute to a particular character or attraction. {For more on disneybound, click here}

In honor of Mother’s Day, my good friend and fellow disneybounding mom Chelsea and I decided to put together outfits inspired by a few of our favorite Disney mothers and their children.

1. Perdita (101 Dalmatians)

As a mother of 2, I can tell you first hand that keeping up with just 2 kids is a tough job. Perdita gave birth to 99 puppies and was a fantastic mom to all of them!

2. Mrs. Darling (Peter Pan)

It’s so important to nurture your kids’ imaginations and Mrs. Darling did just that. And even when the trio flew off to Neverland, she welcomed her loves back with open arms upon their return. I love that in addition to their disneybounds of Mrs. Darling, John, and Michael, Chelsea also found a way to include her dog, Wynchel as Michael’s teddy bear–she’s his mommy too, after all!

3. Andy’s Mom (Toy Story)

Being a single mom can be tough, but Andy’s mom is proof that one woman can do it all! She raised not only her son and daughter, but unknowingly had a hand in the care of a whole toy chest of Andy’s closest friends. I chose to recreate the photo from Andy’s graduation in Toy Story 3 because I feel that it is a perfect representation of how she has supported Andy throughout his childhood and is now sending him off into the world.

4. Mrs. Potato Head (Toy Story 2)

Mrs. Potato Head has always been a devoted wife, but she didn’t necessarily set out to be a mom. I think that what is so cool about her, is that she and Mr. Potato Head took on the responsibility of raising a group of little aliens that needed them. She adopts them and loves them as if they were her own from birth (er…manufacturing?) Every child needs love and she’s got plenty to spare.

5. Mrs. Potts (Beauty and the Beast)

As a mother, sometimes you are faced with inexplicably tough and unexpected circumstances. I love Mrs. Potts because when the castle was enchanted and everyone turned into inanimate objects, she not only made the best of it for herself and her son Chip, but she was a calm and nurturing voice to everyone else as well–including Belle and even the Beast himself.

6. Linda Flynn-Fletcher (Phineas and Ferb)

Linda already had one hyper-imaginative son and a high-strung teenage daughter, but when she married Ferb’s dad, there’s no way she could’ve known what she’d be in for with the adventurous duo of best friends and brothers that Phineas and Ferb would become. But through every adventure, she raises her children with patience and grace…and even has time to briefly revive her pop-star career! She is ultimate mom goals.

7. Dr. McStuffins (Doc McStuffins)

Being a parent is a full time job in itself, but Doc’s mom takes care of not only her own son and daughter, but she cares for lots of other children as well in her career as a pediatrician. She balances her marriage, career, and children with passion and love all while taking time to be a mentor for her daughter Doc who wants to follow in her footsteps when she grows up. Now that’s what I call a #GirlBoss.

8. Mrs. Jumbo (Dumbo)

Last, but certainly not least, we have Mrs. Jumbo and her uniquely gifted son, Dumbo. A mother loves wholeheartedly and unconditionally and always believes in her child no matter what others might say about them. Mrs. Jumbo epitomizes this aspect of motherhood…and I dare you to listen to “Baby of Mine” without tearing up. Pure love.

These are just a very select few of some of our favorite Disney mothers and mother figures, but there are so many others. Who’s your favorite? Let me know in the comments! And if you’re planning to disneybound this mother’s day, I’d love to see it!!! Be sure to tag me @erikaenchanted_when you post your pic to social media.

Special thanks to Chelsea and her boys Owen and Xander (and their dog, Wynchel) for helping out with this post.
