Aloha, e komo mai! HAPPY 626 DAY!!!
In the Disney community, 6/26 is a day to celebrate all things Lilo and Stitch (Get it? Experiment 626!)
This year, we decided to celebrate this glorious day as well as the release of our new 626 baseball cap with a backyard Luau!
Pulled Pork Sliders on Hawaiian Rolls – We made our own version of kalua pork, a Hawaiian luau staple by putting a brined pork shoulder in to a smoker and letting it cook low and slow for several hours, then shredding it with a fork. Put the shredded pork our for guests along with Hawaiian rolls, coleslaw, and your favorite BBQ sauce for a diy slider bar.
Stitch Watermelon Fruit Salad – chopped fruit inside of a watermelon carved to look like Stitch’s head
Mini Spam Misubi Appetizers – another Hawaiian favorite, only bite-sized
Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride – a classic mai tai, re-named to add some Lilo and Stitch flare
Blue Punch Buggy – a kid-friendly mocktail, inspired by one of Stitch’s famous lines from the movie
Party City in the summer time has an entire section of everything you need for a luau, which made decorating a breeze. But because this was specifically a Lilo and Stitch themed luau, we created this DIY coloring banner so everyone knew exactly what we were celebrating. It was also a great way to let the kids get involved with the party planning process. You can download your own here. Just print the pages, hole punch the top, and string together with twine or ribbon.
Hawaiian shirts and dresses were a popular choice for our guests. But you can take your Hawaiian attire to the next level with Lilo and Stitch themed disneybounds!
